How much is your power cost for the show?

Our power cost for the lightshow is roughly $75.00 for the entire month of December.

Do you have list of the songs you use? I would like to listen to them.

I created a public playlist on Spotify of all the songs I have used in my shows. You can find the playlist by searching for Allen Family Lights in Spotify.

Where do you buy your pixel LED lights from?

I source all my pixel LED's from China. They are purchased from Aliexpress.

How far does your FM transmitter transmit the music?

I have turned down the power on the transmitter to be 0.1W in order to comply with personal FM transmitters. So my transmitter will only send the signal about 1 city block.

Why didn't you put lights on the second floor of your house?

I am not a big fan of heights. I am hoping to put them up next year (2021). I will need to rent some type of lift in order to do the install on the second floor so I need to start saving for the cost of materials and lift rentals.

Why is your halloween show only up for a week?

I put up the halloween show to test the lights and ensure everything is working before it starts to get cold and snow everywhere. The added bonus is I have a light show for halloween. If there are any problems or I need to purchase anything for the show - this allows me a month to get everything ready and ordered.

How long does it take you set everything up?

Putting all the lights up and the props in the yard only takes about a week to setup. The bulk of the work is creating the new lights props and the muscially sequences. As I add more props and lights this increases the time it takes for each music sequence I create. On average it takes about 2 hours for every 10 seconds of music. So a song that is about 4 mins long can take up to 60 hours to sequence.

When do you start planning for the show?

I start planning for the shows in February. I usually start by trying to determine what songs I want to use. Then I will start determing what the new additions will be for the next show. Throughout spring and summer I will start buying all the items I need and start building the props. I usually start creating my show sequences in August and September and start testing in October as I start setting up the display.

How tall is your Mega Tree?

The Mega Tree is 15 feet tall plus the star on the top adds another 2 feet to the height. So the overvall height of the tree is 17 feet. There are 1800 LED's on the tree and 120 LED's on the star.

How many lights are on the fence you created?

The fence is made up of 16 smaller sections with 140 LED's for each section. Total lights for the fence is 2240 LED's.
